A Summer Evening Shower

It was a warm summer evening as the tables were set and the goodies prepared.
The family, friends, and bridesmaids of the bride-to-be worked hard to make sure
everything looked its best; no detail was overlooked. The setting was perfect, with handmade
details galore. As guests arrived, I heard “this is so Oksana!” murmured more than once.
The night was a blend of generations, cultures, and languages united because two people fell in love.
This gourmet cake (and the cakes pops, french macarons, etc) was made
by the bridesmaids + friends. Tasty and pretty. Impressive much?!

As daylight faded, twinkling lights lit up the atmosphere.
Oksana, it was an honor to document your lovely shower. Blessings to you and yours for a lifetime of love!

Evening Glory

Yes, friends. It is that time of the year. The last week of class has come to a sweet end. YAY! It has been nice knowing you, spring 2012, but you soon shall pass... and I am secretly glad.

On a completely unrelated note, my 16 year old sister took my camera on a mini trip recently and may I just say that she has an eye for wonderful composition..? I am inspired.

Here are a few from that evening. Taken by my sister, Kathy. Edited by me.

This little man is my favorite little man.
I love the subtle interval the background trees create in this one. (below)
I love the light + colors +depth in the photo below.
...now, off to finish up a few projects, and then... summer!

Thoughts // A Full Moon

There was a time in my life when I was really amazed by the night sky. I had a planner that kept me up to date when the next full moon would be. Let's just say that all of my friends also always knew when a full moon was approaching :) Though I don't have such a cool planner anymore, I am still amazed by the night sky. Tonight, the "super moon" made its appearance. My rendition of it is not spectacular, a mere glimpse of the real thing. Nevertheless, it serves to me as a reminder of the Artist of artists, the Creator of the heavens and the earth. He is so evident in nature.

You should see the moon in flight
Cutting 'cross the misty night
Softly dancing in sunshine
Reflections of its light
Reach me now
You reach me now

I want to shine
I want to be light
'Cause I've got nothing of my own to give
But this light that shines in me

Little Miss Nina

I had the privilege of hanging out with this little lady in the warm spring sun.
One thing I learned about Nina after our time together... this girl's got energy!

Another thing I learned is that the more I shoot,
the more I grow to adore the simplicity + mystery of black and white images.

A special thanks to the parents of this little lady for letting me step into their world for a sunny afternoon :)
